Musical Program

ANTON REICHA Woodwind Quintet, Op. 91, No. 3

LEOŠ JANÁČEK Mládí (Youth) for Wind Sextet

Escape the February doldrums for an afternoon and join us for a trip to Prague, where we will present the Anton Reicha Wind Quintet in D, composed in 1818. Reicha, a friend of Beethoven, was one of the first composers to popularize this ensemble. Then we will add a bass clarinet for the Janacek Mladi (Youth), a charming piece full of Moravian folk melodies and unbridled joy.

This special additional performance Brahms's Second String Sextet sees the return of Pro Arte to the Congregation Beth El in Sudbury. This performance is a second performance. The first concert of the Salon Series is at Grace Episcopal Church on Sunday, November 23, 2025.

The Salon Series is Pro Arte's chamber music concert series. Each performance features a select handful of musicians from Pro Arte's cooperative along with occasional guest artists to present musical gems not featured in the full orchestral Ensemble Series. They are a perfect way get to know Pro Arte players better. If you haven’t been to one of these fun concerts, they are presented in a less formal manner and feature plenty of opportunity to interact with the musicians and to learn more about the music.
