A PEACE OF SPRING
Pro Arte’s strings transform winter into spring with a powerful program led by Mischa Santora, Music Director of Boston Ballet. The concert opens with a dark work—the haunting Chorale by the Ukrainian composer Hanna Havrylets. Howard Frazin’s Peace Cantata is at once a poignant meditation on war and a luminous prayer for humanity. Spring arrives with Antonio Vivaldi’s iconic “La primavera” concerto from The Four Seasonsand Astor Piazzolla’s bustling Primavera Porteña tango from The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires. Our concert ends with the Élégie and Finale from Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s lyrical Serenade for Strings, a musical gesture of spiritual rebirth.
