Every Wednesday, we feature one Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra member to answer some fun questions about themselves. Pro Arte is a tight knit group where the musicians, board of trustees and staff work together as a unit. Today, we will be featuring our “Trustee of the Week” instead of our usual “Musician of the Week.” Meet Sandy Sherwood.
My tenure with Pro Arte started in 2008 when one of its trustees peeked my interest in working with Pro Arte; he knew of my background in law and of my love for music. I knew of the professionalism of the musicians, and came to love working with my fellow-trustees in the interest of promoting Pro Arte’s work. I would say my continued love for Pro Arte is sustained by this combination of professionalism and the trustees’ high commitment to the organization. It is hard for me to name the most memorable concert, for each one has been splendid. I certainly remember the thrill in being part of the audience’s passionate and enthusiastic response to last year’s all Beethoven concert! Each year I am “blown away” by the orchestra’s performances with the young soloists. And in a very different way, I am enriched by the more intimate salon concerts. How fortunate I am to live in a place offering such music performances, as well as a place with so many enriching opportunities such as studying spanish, practicing yoga, walking in a variety of nature setting, skiing, book clubs, etc. etc.!
