Thomas Haunton,
French Horn, Principal
As a free-lance horn player based in Boston, Thomas Haunton has performed with most of New England's major musical organizations. He is a 1977 graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music, where his principal teachers were Thomas Newell and Gunther Schuller.
Mr. Haunton has been a member of both the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra and the Springfield (MA) Symphony Orchestra since 1983. He also performs as principal horn in both the New Hampshire Symphony Orchestra and Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra of Boston, positions he has held since 1984 and 1980, respectively. Mr. Haunton has appeared as guest principal horn of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and is a past winner of the Concert Artist Guild Competition. He serves on the faculty of Dartmouth College.
Aside from music, Mr. Haunton is an acknowledged authority on 20th Century American glass, with a specialty in hand-blown glass from his native state of New Jersey.
