Ronald Haroutunian, Bassoon
Ronald Haroutunian attended the New England Conservatory of Music and Boston University, studying with Matthew Ruggiero and Sherman Walt. He also studied reedmaking with Louis A. Skinner. Mr.Haroutunian has been a member of the Springfield (MA) Symphony Orchestra, and he served as Principal Bassoon with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra during the 1986-87 season. He currently performs as Principal Bassoon with the Rhode Island Philharmonic, the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, and is an extra player with the Boston Symphony, performing as second bassoonist during the 1999-2000 season. Other organizations Mr. Haroutunian performs with are the Boston Ballet, Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Boston Lyric Opera, among others, in the New England area. He has been a soloist with the Boston Pops, Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, and the Hartford Symphony. He teaches bassoon at Tufts University, Boston University, the University of Connecticut, and MIT. He made his Carnegie Recital Hall debut with the New England Conservatory Scholarship Woodwind Quintet, and he has recorded on Phillips, Sony, Koch, among others.
