Member of the Week – Ann Bobo

Every Wednesday, we will be featuring one Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra member to answer some fun questions about themselves.  Today we will be hearing from Ann Bobo, our principal flute.

8635174186_34f74a9273_nHow did you first get involved in music?

Both of my parents are musicians.  My dad is a pianist and was a music teacher for 30 years, and my mom is a singer, and taught elementary school music, so I’ve been surrounded by it for as long as I can remember.  One of my earliest musical memories is of dancing around the house to Baba-Yaga from Pictures at an Exhibition.

Do you listen to non-classical musical genres?  If so, what are some of your favorites?

Yes!  In fact much of what we listen to at home is non-classical.  Current favorites are the Civil Wars, Norah Jones, Adele, and we’re getting a lot of Taylor Swift from my ten-year old lately!

What foods and meals do you like to cook at home?

I do cook a lot.  Mostly very family friendly stuff.  I’m a big fan of things that can be made ahead like quiches, chili, and soups.  We’re currently obsessed with our Vitamix, so there are lots of smoothies around here.  And, I’ll try anything from an Ina Garten cookbook!
