KEVIN RHODES CONDUCTS THE PRO ARTE CHAMBER ORCHESTRA OF BOSTON IN ITS SEASON OPENING CONCERT SEPTEMBER 9, 2012

Arturo Delmoni performs Beethoven’s Violin Concerto with the Orchestra

BOSTON, August 20, 2012 – Music Director Kevin Rhodes leads the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra of Boston in the first concert of its 2012-2013 season with an all-Beethoven program including the Violin Concerto featuring Arturo Delmoni, and Symphony No. 4 on Sunday, September 9 at Sanders Theatre at Harvard University at 3:00 p.m.

Kevin Rhodes became Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra’s Music Director with its 2010 concert season. Mr. Rhodes served as its Guest Conductor in two well received concerts in the 2007 and 2008 concert seasons. This season he celebrates his tenth year as Music Director of both the Springfield Symphony Orchestra in Massachusetts and the Traverse Symphony Orchestra in Michigan. His tenure at these orchestras has been marked by critical acclaim as well as sold out houses. He will make his debut this season with the Dutch National Ballet and returns to the Paris Ballet for three productions, conducting nearly 50 performances with them. He also returns to the La Scala Opera House for a production of Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet.

Arturo Delmoni is one of the most celebrated artists of his generation. His remarkably distinct playing embodies the romantic warmth that is the special province of the great virtuosi of the golden age of violin playing. Yo-Yo Ma describes Delmoni as “an enormously gifted musician and an impeccable violinist. His playing style is unique, and his gorgeous sound is reminiscent of that of great violinists from a bygone era.” Glenn Dicterow, concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic, says “Delmoni’s playing always goes right to the heart and his charisma is irresistible.” Delmoni’s stylish, elegant interpretations of classical masterpieces have earned him critical acclaim in the United States and abroad.
