Pro Arte is sad to announce the death of one of our members, Richard “Rick” Menaul.  Rick played Principal French Horn with Pro Arte and performed in many of our orchestral and chamber concerts.  His smiling face was often seen in our advertising photographs. He will be greatly missed.  We will dedicate our October 5th concert in his memory.

The following text appeared in the Wednesday, July 24th program of the Boston Landmarks Orchestra’s performance on the Boston Esplanade:

“We dedicate this concert to Richard Menaul, who would have played principal horn in tonight’s Boston Landmarks Orchestra performance.  Rick passed away this week.  We are with him, thinking of him, and mourning his loss.  Rick is survived by his daughter, Leah, and his brother, Scott.  Our hearts are with them.

Rick was also principal horn of both the Boston Ballet Orchestra and the Handel and Hayden Society, a member of the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, Boston Classical Orchestra, Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, and performed with many local ensembles, including frequently with the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

May the music that he loved carry us forth in his memory.”
