PRO ARTE’S 39TH SEASON opens with a Gala concert – a cello extravaganza featuring the award-winning Boston Cello Quartet. Founded in 2010 by four cellists from the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the BCQ has quickly won the hearts of music lovers through their own arrangements arrangements of popular Latin dance works from their critically-acclaimed album, The Latin Project, all showcasing the limitless possibilities of the instrument they love. The BCQ will then join Pro Arte cellists and friends and the stunning soprano Barbara Quintiliani in Villa Lobos’ Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5. This rarely performed work for eight cellos with soprano is not to be missed!

THE BOSTON CELLO QUARTET was founded in 2010 by the Boston Symphony Orchestra cellists Blaise Dejardin, Adam Esbensen, Mihail Jojatu and Alexandre Lecarme. Since its acclaimed debut concert, the BCQ has quickly won the hearts of music lovers through their own arrangements of staples of the classical music repertoire, as well as jazz, contemporary works, and even comic medleys, all which showcases the limitless possibilities of the instrument they love. “The quartet plays with a blend of suavity, succulent vibrato and simmering passion that serves the music beautifully” -Gramophone, April 2016 – Artist Website

SOPRANO BARBARA QUINITILIANI is an award-winning soprano from Quincy, MA and the first American woman in twenty-five years to ​win the prestigious Francisco Viñas Singing Competition in Barcelona, Spain. Ms. Quintiliani was a Grand Prize winner of the prestigious National Metropolitan Opera Council Auditions, and winner of the Sarah Tucker Study Grant from the Richard Tucker Foundation. An enthusiastic and communicative artist, she has delighted audiences throughout the United States and Europe: she debuted at Weill Recital Hall under the auspices of the Marilyn Horne Foundation and has performed leading roles with major houses around the world including The Gran Teatro del Liceu in Barcelona, Washington National Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Opera Boston, and Chautauqua Opera.
