Maria Benotti, Violin

Maria Benotti is a founding member of the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra of Boston. Ms. Benotti performs on Baroque violin frequently with the Handel and Haydn Society Orchestra, and she has appeared in numerous recitals and chamber music concerts throughout New England, including concerts in Jordan Hall, the Yellow Barn Chamber Music Festival, the St. John's Concert Series, the Monadnock Festival, and the Music at Noon Series at Northeastern University.

Ms. Benotti has taught violin, sonata duo class, and chamber music at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School since 1977. She founded Music at Eden's Edge and has been Artistic Director of the North Shore's regional resident chamber ensemble since 1982, offering a summer series of chamber concerts as well as public school and senior outreach concerts.

Ms. Benotti earned a B.A. in Music, Magna Cum Laude, from Oberlin College, an M.M. in violin performance from the Catholic University of America and the New England Conservatory. She has studied with Eric Rosenblith, Dorothy DeLay, Masuko Ushioda, and Valeria Kuchment, as well as at the Hochschule fur Musik in Vienna with Gunter Pichler, and chamber music coaching with Rudolph Kolish and David Wells.
